We are committed to advocacy and education for public and government officials on the many benefits and uses of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to resolve disputes through effective communication.

Legislative Activities supports and encourages the development of government programs and initiatives which promote the field of ADR as an independent profession, and which serve to meet the public need for meaningful and realistic conflict management options that are provided in a reasonable and ethical manner.

Public Outreach is an important initiative we take on as a membership association is to increase the visibility and awareness of the dispute resolution field in New York State.

Our goal is to:

• Raise public awareness of mediation and other ADR processes.
• Expand public understanding of the core values of mediation  and other dispute resolution processes.
• Enhance public knowledge of the wide variety of situations that can benefit from the use of mediation.
• Increase public acceptance of mediation and conflict management.
