The Department of Justice (DOJ), Community Relations Service (CRS) is seeking to hire a highly qualified Regional Director CRS is responsible for resolving conflicts and preventing violence when racial tensions that threaten community peace and stability arise by assisting state and local officials, law enforcement officials, business leaders, and community residents. CRS also prevents and responds to violent hate crimes committed on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or disability issues.

Directs conciliation services with disputing parties where mediation techniques and processes are applied in dealing with civic, community, business, government, labor and private groups and influential persons

  • Objectively evaluates controversial matters to determine the basic issues, and consider which may contribute to disorder or violence
  • Represents CRS in high level meetings, negotiations, and liaison activities with officials of the Department of Justice and other Federal agencies, State local government, and private institutions
  • Works closely with state, local and community organizations, public officials, and others to establish communication between various disputing parties
  • Hears and distills complaints and grievances; and provides technical advice and assistance to resolve problems  
  • Manages and coordinates all program operations within the area of geographic responsibility 
  • Evaluates delivery of program services in terms of compliance with policies and procedures, reporting requirements, attainment of standards of quality, and consistency with goals and objectives
