JOB OPPORTUNITY: Program Coordinator (Albany)

The Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Services, will be responsible for coordinating cases throughout the Mediation Matters program but will be primarily housed in the Albany office. The position is funded in large part by a grant from the New York State Office of Court Administration.

Mediation Matters, Inc. was founded in 1979 as a non-profit, community-based organization to provide the skills and processes that help people handle conflict in a constructive way. The Center specializes in providing mediation and conflict resolution skills, training and consulting. Mediation/Facilitation services are offered for court-based issues, schools, county administrative agency related matters, workplaces, or anyone with an interpersonal challenge they wish to address. Multiparty work, including training, has been offered in a number of different organizations including but not limited to: workplaces, schools, community groups, non-profits, and businesses. Offices are located in Albany, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, and Glens Falls, NY. Mediation Matters has a strong commitment to serving the diverse communities of the Capital District; applicants who feel they can help us further those goals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job duties will include, but are not limited to, supporting the work done throughout Schenectady County and being in-office contact for clients; relationship development and management with court/county personnel; case management: intake, managing referrals, and working with the on-line database; some administrative functions; supporting co-workers to meet the needs of the volunteers; education and outreach about Mediation Matters programs; and other duties as needed.

Travel ability to the courts or other Mediation Matters offices is required. Though the position will have an office in the Albany office, significant portions of the week could be spent in Rensselaer County.

Qualifications: Good written and oral communication skills, computer literacy, flexibility, and creativity. Mediation training/understanding is a plus.

Salary and Hours: This position is full time: full time at Mediation Matters is 35 hours/week. Mediation Matters contributes to basic individual healthcare plans.
