NYSDRA Welcomes Linda J. Cohen as New Executive Director
The New York State Dispute Resolution Association (NYSDRA) has selected Linda J. Cohen as its next Executive Director. The appointment follows the departure of Lisa Hicks Yackel, who is retiring after fifteen years at the helm of the association.
Prior to taking the leadership role at NYSDRA, Ms. Cohen spent twelve years as the Executive Director of the New York State Corps Collaboration, an association of youth service and conservation corps. In addition to her association experience, she has served as an Assistant Attorney General in New York and held positions in the New York State Assembly and the New York State court system. Ms. Cohen has extensive experience with media and public advocacy campaigns, including developing her own column on legal issues for Inside Sports magazine. She has also had several editorials published in newspapers and journals.
Ms. Cohen is a graduate of Union College, Albany Law School, and the George Washington University National Law Center. She is a member of the Bar in New York and the District of Columbia. In addition, Ms. Cohen is a graduate of the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce Capital Leadership Class of 2004, and sits on the Board of the Empire State Society of Association Executives and the Law, Youth and Citizenship Committee of the New York State Bar Association.

Dan Marsden, an inspector at a plastics plant in northern California, was having a bad day at work. A gaggle of co-workers was taunting and teasing him about his presumed sexual orientation. For several months, they had been annoying him by insinuating that Dan was gay. The rest of the workforce enjoyed
