Child Abuse and/or Neglect Mediation Training
For CDRC Programs
Guideline I and Guideline III Cases

The Center for Dispute Settlement offers this mandatory training as directed by New York State Unified Court System. This Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution Programs and the Child Welfare Court Improvement Project has designed this training for those mediators that have received advanced training in Custody and Visitation, and/or Divorce mediation. The caseloads to which Guideline I refers are those identified as either a closed prior history of child protective court proceedings and/or local Social Services involvement and there is no open child protective case under the court’s jurisdiction.  The caseloads to which Guideline III refers are those identified as they are not under the court’s jurisdiction and involve previously reported and investigated allegations of child abuse.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Examine the impact of Child Abuse and Neglect on Children and Families
  • Identify allegations of abuse and neglect and what a CDRC mediator should do when a potential allegation arises or previous allegation is made
  • Apply the tools and techniques through simulations.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
