This training is approved under Part 146 by the New York State Unified Court System's Office of ADR Programs.
(Please note that final placement on any court roster is at the discretion of the local Administrative Judge and participation in a course that is either approved or pending approval does not guarantee placement on a local court roster.)

About the Training
Our Basic Mediation Training is a comprehensive 35 hour training designed in compliance with the guidelines established by the Unified Court System Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Court Improvement Programs. It is a blend of presentational material and experiential learning opportunities. Upon completion of the training, participants will have a working knowledge of the mediation process and its various applications both in and out of the Court system.
About the Center
The Westchester and Rockland Mediation Centers operate under the auspices of the Unified Court System, Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Court Improvement Programs. We provide Mediation Services and related Trainings in a variety of areas including Community Dispute Resolution, Divorce, Custody and Visitation, Workplace, Restorative Justice, School Peer Mediation, Child Permanency Mediation, Special Education Mediation, and Eviction Prevention. With offices in Yonkers and Nyack we assist over 3,000 individuals annually, by mediating, conciliating or referring them to more appropriate services.
Trainers: Jenny Besch, Tajae Gaynor and Beth A. T. Kraus
Jenny Besch, Director of the Westchester and Rockland Mediation Centers of CLUSTER, Inc. since 1998, is a certified mediator and State Certified Trainer with advanced training in community mediation, parent-child mediation, custody-visitation mediation, divorce mediation, child permanency mediation, lemon law arbitration, employment discrimination mediation, victim offender mediation and restorative justice group conferencing. She holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, where she also did her undergraduate work. She is co-author of Parenting through Divorce: A Collaborative Negotiation, a training designed to assist parents and children adjust to their changing circumstances. She has served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Dispute Resolution Association, as well as EPIC, a noted parent effectiveness training and service organization. Since her arrival, WRMC’s programming has expanded dramatically to include new Custody/Visitation Mediation, PINS Mediation and Restorative Justice Group Conferencing.
In addition to her work at WRMC, Jenny is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University in their graduate program in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, where she teaches Advanced Mediation.
Tajaé Gaynor is the Supervisor School Based Programs and Training Initiatives for Westchester and Rockland Mediation Centers of CLUSTER Inc. He developed a passion for Conflict Resolution over 20 years ago as a Junior High School peer mediator. Tajaé earned his undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of criminal justice. Year after year, he works with hundreds of young people and adults teaching Conflict Resolution and mediation skills. His commitment to teaching violence prevention has earned him national recognition from the Democratic Congressional leadership in 1999.
In 2004, Tajaé was honored with the James Boskey Award for outstanding youth leadership from the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR). He currently serves on the Board of Directors for ACR National and was appointed as the first Diversity and Equity Director in the Organizations History.
Beth A.T. Krause is an attorney specializing in family law. She runs a solo law practice where she is appointed to represent children and parents in all types of family court cases. Beth is also a certified mediator in New York, Maryland and Michigan and has experience mediating family, community, and small claims matters. Beth is currently the president of the Bronx Women's Bar Association, a chapter of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York. Beth is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, cum laude, and a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, magna cum laude.
Location and Dates: The training will take place in Yonkers, NY on November 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7th
Fees: The cost of the program is $800.00. Payment is to be made in full upon registration. Continuing Education Credit: CLE credits are available at no cost
Apprenticeship: Completion of this training allows you to be eligible for our invitation only 16 week apprenticeship program mediating in small claims courts throughout Westchester and Rockland. More information about the apprenticeship will be given during the training.
