Legislative Activity
Share |
One of the major initiatives NYSDRA members feel is important to undertake is the monitoring and participation in legislative activities relating to the field of dispute resolution (DR).  To that end, NYSDRA established a Government Affairs Committee in 1996 to coordinate various activities relating to legislation and communication between our members, government officials and various stakeholders in the DR community.

NYSDRA actively supports and encourages the development of government programs and initiatives which promote the field of DR as an independent profession, and which serve to meet the public need for meaningful and realistic conflict management options that are provided in a reasonable and ethical manner.

Accordingly, NYSDRA advocates for legislative endeavors and government programs which focus primarily on the use and encouragement of ADR processes, such as conciliation, facilitation, mediation, neutral evaluation and arbitration that share the fundamental values of impartiality, self-determination and confidentiality.

NYSDRA firmly believes in education and promotion of DR process bills and not advocating for any political candidate or political party. The information provided on this page is continually updated to provide our members and others the most recent information relating to NYSDRA’s legislative initiatives. We always welcome your comments and ideas, so please feel free to contact us directly by emailing
