40 HOUR, 5 DAY TRAINING
January 25, 26, 27 & February 9, 10, 2019

All major mediation organizations require a
40 hour Basic Training for accreditation
24 students per session - Limited enrollment

Early-Bird registration is available until January 1, 2019

Our 40 hour Basic Training offers an introduction to the emotional, legal, and financial problems of divorce, as well as an overview of fundamental mediation theories and techniques. Didactic instruction is balanced with extensive role-playing exercises, case studies, and opportunities for Q&A.

Our interdisciplinary staff draws from their diverse professional backgrounds, offering unique perspectives that enrich the training experience. We focus on the “private practice model” and offer ongoing support to our trainees while they develop as professional mediators.

In addition to the basics outlined above, this training will cover some common tax issues, the impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and the challenges of working with different kinds of retirement plans. We also provide two hours of Domestic Violence training, as required by the Academy of Professional Family Mediators, The New York State Council on Divorce Mediation, the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators and the Association for Conflict Resolution.

Register by the end of the year and save $100 by paying the Early-Bird registration fee of $1,300 (plus $75 for books and training materials)

I found the training to be extremely useful. Going in, I had no idea what mediation was actually all about and how it differed from the negotiation I had been doing for years. Now, I not only know the difference but also see how to use that alternative approach, even in a classic litigation context, to reach a result the clients can live with — something which is particularly critical when there are custodial issues. The instruction from Steve and Ken (and the guest instructors) is solid and useful. I recommend the course even if you never intend to mediate because the techniques you will learn are universal."
