New York Peace Institute is excited to announce that our annual Advanced Mediation Training (AMT) is scheduled for Thursday, May 30th through Friday, the 31st!The AMT is a skills deep-dive for anyone who has taken a Basic Mediation Training.
The AMT provides in-depth real time coaching, group feedback & discussion, and energizing hands-on exercises. In a small group setting - ensuring a strong participant-to-instructor ratio - you will work closely with New York Peace Institute's lead trainers, Will Nassau and Chris Daly, to wrestle challenging concepts to the ground.

In the AMT, we go beyond the basics andinto the trickiest parts of mediation with an intimate group of committed learners. Whether it’s building an agenda, dealing with high emotion, or generating and assessing options, this training will expand your comfort zone and take onthe most challenging aspects of mediation.

Through hands-on activities, extensive role plays, group discussion, peer feedback, and of course, movie clips and pop culture, the AMT will tone your mediator muscles. Whether you just completed the Basic Mediation Training or have been mediating for years, this training provides an opportunity to receive focused coaching in a small group environment as you practice your craft in the company of experienced professionals. Will Nassau, Director of Training & Business Development
Will oversees New York Peace Institute's NYPD training program where he teaches mediation and de-escalation skills to hundreds of police officers each year. Will also leads trainings for outside partners, including UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund, Safe Horizon, NYU, CUNY, BMCC, the Center for Court Innovation, the ASPCA, the NYC Department of Education, and Harlem Children’s Zone, among others.
Prior to New York Peace Institute, he was Senior Program Officer at American Jewish World Service where he ran a human rights program in India. Will has an MA in International Studies from the University of Exeter in the UK and a BA in Politics from Ithaca College.
Chris Daly, Associate Director of Training
Chris is an attorney, trainer and a certified conflict coach & mediator. Chris is responsible for mediator education at New York Peace Institute and oversees the Apprenticeship Program, quality assurance, in-service trainings for volunteer mediators.Prior to joining New York Peace Institute, Chris was a domestic violence prosecutor for 10 years at the District Attorney’s Office in Bronx County.
Chris has an MA in Education from Harvard University and a law degree from Boston College. Chris was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji, where she promoted cross-cultural understanding. She is actively involved in the New York State Bar Association, particularly in the Law, Youth & Citizenship Committee. Chris is dedicated to identifying innovative approaches to bringing people together so they can manage disagreements creatively and constructively.
