This three-day advanced training will enable mediators to practice in the complex field of divorce mediation. By the end of the training, participants will be grounded with the legal information, financial tools, mediation interventions, and personal dynamics required to act competently in the complex practice of divorce mediation.  The training will cover parenting plans, child support, asset division, spousal support, taxes, insurance, and divorce filing procedures.

The course will also act as a mediation “master class” to polish pre-existing mediation skills, providing an expanded repertoire of interventions and techniques.  The course blends lecture, experiential learning, and key information on New York matrimonial law.

This course is open to anyone who has completed a basic mediation training.

About the Trainer
Robert Collins, Esq., has practiced and taught divorce mediation for the past thirty years.  He currently serves as Director of the Divorce Mediation Clinic at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and teaches at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. He is considered one of most experienced family mediators in New York City, and is cited by Cardozo Law School as being among “the pioneers of divorce mediation in New York.”

CLE Credit
New York State attorneys can receive 17 professional practice credit hours and 5.5 skills hours.

New York Peace Institute Mediators and Trainees: $850
General Public: $1050
Early-bird discount: $100 off when you apply 30 days in advance.

Financial aid is available to all those who qualify: All registrants are eligible for a $100 discount when they apply 30 in advance of the training. New York Peace Institute mediators and trainees are also eligible for a reduced rate of $200 off the regular training rate. Due to limited organizational resources, scholarships are not available for this program.
