School Program Coordinator - Mediation Matters 

Note: Hiring for this position is contingent on a background check required by the school district and final contract stipulations, also by the school.


Mediation Matters/Tony Clement School Partnership: The Tony Clement Center for Education School Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the Mediation Matters Youth Team, will be responsible for helping to coordinate the Mediation Matters Conflict Resolution Program at the school and working with the restorative justice team within the school to further school wide implementation of restorative practices.

Mediation Matters, Inc. was founded in 1979 as a non-profit, community-based organization to provide the skills and processes that help people handle conflict in a constructive way. The Center specializes in providing mediation and conflict resolution skills, training and consulting serving Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties. Offices are located in Albany, Saratoga Springs, and Schenectady.

Job Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Relationship building with school community
  • Conduct outreach and facilitate workshops
  • Coordinating conflict resolution cases/ entering cases into the database
  • After Training, Mediate and Assist with Keeping Restorative Processes
  • Facilitating Restorative Justice/ Conflict Resolution Trainings for school Community (students, families, and school staff)
  • Support school community in their implementation of Restorative Justice
  • Some potential travel throughout Mediation Matters’ six county service area
  • May have to work from a virtual platform
  • Work closely in collaboration with the community school site coordinator.

Requirements & Qualifications: Demonstrated experience working with youth, knowledge of trauma informed practices, training in conflict resolution skills (recommended), good written and oral communication skills, sense of humor, creativity and flexibility, computer literacy. Experience working with a diverse demographic of people.


Salary, Hours, and Location: This is a full-time position. Salary will be commensurate with experience; access to health benefits are included. The position will largely be based at Tony Clement Center for Education in Albany, NY. Candidates must have the ability to travel throughout Mediation Matters’ six county service area.

Case Manager Part-Time - Mediation Matters 

The Mediation Matters Case Manager is responsible for representing Mediation Matters at assigned courts and assisting clients in obtaining access to the services Mediation Matters provides. This position is funded in large part by a grant from the NYS Unified Court System.

Job duties will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Relationship and programmatic development with court/county personnel; 
  • Sharing information about program services;
  • Case management: conducting intake, managing referrals, and working with the online database;
  • Eventually may provide direct dispute resolution services;
  • Some administrative functions;
  • Providing assistance with volunteer management;
  • Collaborating with other coordinators within the Center.

Qualifications: Good written and oral communication skills, sense of humor, creativity and flexibility, computer literacy, ability to maintain confidentiality, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work with individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds. Associates Degree or equivalent experience. Mediation training/understanding is a plus.

Salary, Hours, and Location: This is a part-time position (20-24 hours per week). Compensation is commensurate with experience; access to health benefits are included on a pro-rated basis. The position will be based in the Albany office; all candidates must have the ability to occasionally travel throughout the counties we serve. The position will remain open until filled.

Program Coordinator - Mediation Matters 

The Mediation Matters Program Coordinator is responsible for conflict resolution and restorative justice programs throughout the communities we serve with an emphasis on youth and families. This position is funded in large part by a grant from the NYS Unified Court System.


Mediation Matters, Inc. was founded in 1979 as a non-profit, community-based organization to provide the skills and processes that help people handle conflict in a constructive way. The Center specializes in providing mediation and conflict resolution skills, training and consulting. Offices are located in Albany, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, and Glens Falls, NY. This position, though providing services across our entire region, will focus efforts in Saratoga, Washington, and Warren counties. Mediation Matters has a strong commitment to serving the diverse communities of the Capital district; applicants who feel they can help us further those goals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Relationship and programmatic development with court/county personnel and juvenile justice partners;
  • Outreach in all areas (family services centers, courts, administrative offices, schools, community groups) but with a focus on youth and schools programs;
  • Delivery of services in program areas;
  • Conflict Resolution and Restorative Practices Education and Training sessions as part of staff team, including for youth and schools;
  • In-office Case management: intake, managing referrals, and working with the on-line database;
  • Some administrative functions;
  • Providing volunteer management and support;
  • Collaborating with other coordinators within the Center.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth,
  • Good written and oral communication skills,
  • Sense of humor,
  • Creativity and flexibility,
  • Computer literacy,
  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience.

Salary, Hours, and Location: This is a full-time position (full-time for Mediation Matters is 37.5 hours per week which includes a paid lunch period). Salary is commensurate with experience; access to health benefits are included.

The position will largely be based in Saratoga, Washington, and Warren counties; all candidates must have the ability to travel throughout the counties we serve.
