Program Duties


This position is assigned to the Law Department. The Senior Settlement Coordinator is responsible for conducting conferences, mediation, and settlement negotiations. Duties include but are not limited to: conducting and coordinating screenings; reviewing cases to identify facts; evaluating claims; conducting conferences or mediation sessions with lawyers, parties to the action, and others; researching and analyzing complex legal questions and issues; writing legal memoranda; and consulting with judges and court personnel.

The Westchester County Human Rights Commission is seeking an Employment Discrimination & Housing Discrimination Investigator.


The successful candidate will act as a senior investigator, responsible for the administration of investigations, case management from inception to completion, investigating patterns and practices of discrimination, and assisting with the construction of corrective action plans. The incumbent is also responsible for supervising investigative staff to ensure thorough investigations, including assisting in developing investigation plans, reviewing investigative notes, and monitoring adherence to required deadlines.


About the Westchester County Human Rights Commission


The Westchester County Human Rights Commission combats discrimination by implementing and enforcing the County’s Human Rights Law and Fair Housing Law and by empowering the community through its education and outreach efforts regarding discrimination and hate-related issues.

First, the Commission accepts, investigates and adjudicates complaints of discrimination in Westchester County in the areas of employment, housing, places of public accommodations, credit lending, and – as of Dec. 7, 2021 – discriminatory harassment.


Second, the Commission also works to build bridges and foster unity through a robust education and outreach campaign to the public on combating discrimination in all of its forms. The Commission’s Education and Empowerment Series has included programs on solidarity building, interactive bystander intervention training workshops, dismantling racism, recognizing and mitigating implicit bias, and how to talk to your friends and family about race and discrimination. Program Duties


  • Manages the Commission’s caseload, to include participating in the investigation and resolution of more complicated and complex complaints by gathering all pertinent information, explaining to parties and witnesses (and their representatives) the Commission’s role, and making recommendations in the resolution of claims.
  • Conducts investigations by interviewing involved parties and conducting fact-finding, field investigations and inspections to verify all pertinent information regarding claims.
  • Analyzes and evaluates information relating to human rights and fair housing rules, regulations and operating procedures.
  • Prepares reports based on investigative findings and applicable legal theories and makes recommendations thereon.
  • Develops and implements case management goals as they relate to open complaints of discrimination.


Qualifications:


Bachelor’s Degree & a minimum of:


1.    4 years of experience where the primary function of the position was in investigations, equal employment, fair housing, human resources, or a related field where the primary function of the position was conducting fact finding interviews; OR 
2.    4 years of experience interpreting and applying civil rights laws and regulations, performing investigative work, mediating disputes, or negotiating agreements.

The Mediation Center of Dutchess County, a community dispute resolution center in Poughkeepsie, NY, is seeking a Restorative Justice Program Coordinator (RJPC). This position is full-time (35 hours/week) with the expectation of working Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm. Please note that, on occasion, the Coordinator will need to come in earlier, based on the needs of school partners.


The Restorative Justice Programs Coordinator serves as the crucial link between the general public, community partners, local businesses, public schools, and MCDC staff. The primary focus and day-to-day service of this position will take place in public schools. This means the RJPC must be comfortable and proficient in appropriately communicating with young people and the administrative and/or executive staff of school systems.

The Coordinator will also provide accurate, detailed, and timely administrative support for the Restorative Justice programs’ offerings, including but not limited to outreach, trainings, and public circles. This position supports our community in resolving a variety of disputes through Restorative Practices, mentoring implementation, and direct case work. The RJPC approaches their work with curiosity, listens deeply, and communicates with a high level of professionalism.

About MCDC


We are an established volunteer-driven nonprofit providing alternative dispute resolution services to individuals, families, and groups. Our mediation programs practice exclusively in the Transformative Mediation model. Our Restorative Justice programs offer a relational approach to culture-building and conflict resolution. Special priority is given to working with youth in educational settings, where restorative practices help foster accountability and creative problem-solving, while strengthening community.


We seek team members who demonstrate an aptitude for clear communication, professional integrity, and a willingness to center community voices over individual recognition. Understanding that many qualified candidates may not have direct experience with restorative practices, we place equal value on effective customer service, youth service, and group facilitation. Program Duties (%60)


  • Regular direct services, including but not limited to in-person engagement with schools and community partners;

The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to serve as Chief, ADR Program within the Clerk’s Office. The Chief, ADR Program is responsible for the development, administration, and oversight of the Court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program, supporting the Court’s mission to provide fair, efficient, and timely resolution of civil disputes. This position works closely with judges, court staff, attorneys, and external stakeholders to promote effective, efficient resolution of cases primarily through mediation. The Chief, ADR Program reports to the Chief Deputy Clerk of Court. 


  • Design, implement, and manage the Court’s ADR programs (e.g., mediation).
  • Recruit, train, and oversee the panel of volunteer mediators.  Develop policies, procedures, and best practices for ADR operations.
  • Coordinate case referrals to ADR and monitor program effectiveness.  Provide training and outreach to mediators, judges, attorneys, and the public.
  • Maintain program data, prepare reports, and evaluate outcomes.  Ensure compliance with Judiciary policies, confidentiality standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Clerk’s Office and chambers on case management and ADR integration.

Position Summary


The Manager, Civil In-Court Mediation reports to the Director of Programs and works collaboratively with the Manager of Community and Diversion Programs. The Manager oversees all mediation services conducted on site in Small Claims Courts in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and is responsible for large-claim cases referred for remote mediation by Civil and Supreme Courts. The Manager serves as the primary relationship contact with external stakeholders (court staff and the ADR Civil Court Coordinator), supports staff and volunteers in court, and leads mediation trainings and on-site court apprenticeships. This position plays a crucial role in program development, implementation of NYPI's values and DEI efforts, and contributes to the organization's overall strategic goals.

Position Summary

Position Summary


The Manager, Civil In-Court Mediation reports to the Director of Programs and works collaboratively with the Manager of Community and Diversion Programs. The Manager oversees all mediation services conducted on site in Small Claims Courts in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and is responsible for large-claim cases referred for remote mediation by Civil and Supreme Courts. The Manager serves as the primary relationship contact with external stakeholders (court staff and the ADR Civil Court Coordinator), supports staff and volunteers in court, and leads mediation trainings and on-site court apprenticeships. Program Implementation (30%)

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and oversee delivery of client services (i.e., intakes, mediations, debriefs) in Civil Courts in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Duties include:


Provide technical assistance to the administrative judge or court administrators in the development and implementation of protocols, guidelines, and best practices regarding the ADR program within the jurisdiction of the Queens Supreme Civil Term;


Act as a liaison between the court and Community Dispute Resolution Centers, volunteer law school clinics, and volunteer mediators and arbitrators; recruit volunteer mediators and arbitrators;


Create and maintain rosters of certified mediators and arbitrators;


Monitor training programs that qualify arbitrators and mediators;

Position Summary


Assistant Deputy Counsel specialize in particular substantive areas of the law which relate to the development and implementation of court policies and the administration of the Unified Court System. Position Summary


New York Peace Institute is seeking a Program Coordinator to join our Family team and help to shape the future direction of our disability-related mediation programs, including Special Education, Early Intervention, and ACCES-VR mediation programs.
