About Ronald J. Vero

Ronald J. Vero brings a unique perspective to alternative dispute resolution, combining extensive experience in utility regulation, engineering, and organizational leadership with deep commitment to ADR practice and education. Currently serving as an adjunct mathematics instructor at Hudson Valley Community College, Vero has built a distinguished career spanning both public service and dispute resolution.


Vero spent over 25 years with the New York State Department of Public Service, where he developed expertise in resolving complex disputes between utilities and consumers. As a Business Advocate in the Office of Consumer Policy, he mediated intricate business issues between utilities and large utility users while promoting economic development throughout New York State. His telecommunications work involved resolving interconnection disputes and monitoring competitive carrier relationships, giving him extensive experience in multi-party commercial conflicts.

His engineering background, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, provided him with the analytical skills essential for complex dispute resolution. He furthered his ADR expertise by earning certificates in Regulatory Economics from the University at Albany and Conflict Studies from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations.


Vero has served as President of the New York State Dispute Resolution Association's Board of Directors, bringing his leadership experience and parliamentary expertise to advance the organization's mission. As a Registered Parliamentarian with the National Association of Parliamentarians, he understands the importance of structured processes in organizational governance and conflict resolution.


His mediation and arbitration practice extends across multiple sectors, including service with FINRA, the National Futures Association, the United States Postal Service, and the American Arbitration Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of Mediation Matters, which provides ADR services across Albany, Rensselaer, and Saratoga Counties.


Throughout his career, Vero has demonstrated commitment to public service and community engagement, having served on executive boards and in leadership roles with organizations including the Public Employees Federation, the Capital District Football Officials Association, and the University of Notre Dame Alumni Club. His diverse experience in regulatory affairs, engineering, education, and dispute resolution provides him with a comprehensive understanding of how ADR can serve both organizations and communities.
